VSCO PHOTOGRAPHER STORIES
ABOUT
After featuring my work through its prompt community, VSCO invited me to participate in its Photographer Stories series. The resulting article, “Marin Kirkman on Finding Community Through Prompts,” was dedicated entirely to my photography and paired my full interview with a selection of my images.
The story explores how VSCO’s prompts pushed me to take my work more seriously and helped me find a wider photography community. Having an entire article centered on my perspective gave me the opportunity to share the growth behind the images, not just the finished work.
MY COMMUNITY PROMPT
My involvement with VSCO continued beyond the editorial feature when I was invited to create an official community photography prompt. After years of participating in the platform's prompts and open calls, I had the opportunity to develop one of my own.
I created #PointOfView, a prompt encouraging photographers to show the world through their own perspective. Featuring my photography and creative direction, the prompt was shared with VSCO's global community, giving me the opportunity to inspire the same kind of creative exploration that had shaped my own work over the years.
VSCO also shared my editorial feature on its official Instagram account, which has over 3.3 million followers, bringing my photography and story to a much larger audience.
